1968 Impala, mild custom, CA car
In 1993 I decided to get off the leased car merry-go-round and bought a 68 Impala. I'm a graphic designer and wanted a car I could experiment with and use as a daily driver.
I was the second owner. The original owner had passed away and his son was selling it on the open market. Cool. A nice simple car: 307, Powerglide, black (not avocado) interior, air conditioning, black CA license plate. The car had 105K miles on it and was under used. Motor and trans got rebuilt, plus suspension components, brakes, cooling, etc. Interior was almost entirely original. Only changes were some repairs to the front seat upholstery and a Lecarra steering wheel. Dash - perfect, headliner - perfect, carpeting - fine.
The body was mildly customized. Emblems were removed, side bumper strips gone, marker lights - gone, radio antenna - gone. Smooth. And the Moon disks are a nice touch. Paint is a custom metallic green.
The car has appeared in Hot Rod magazine and Motor Trendz, published in Japan.
